Two Palestinians were wounded Thursday when Israeli soldiers opened fire at them in the West bank city of Nablus.

According to local sources, Ahmad Fusel and Karim Abu Thabet, were critically wounded when Israeli troops, backed by tanks and armoured vehicles, thrust into Balata refugee camp and opened heavy machine gunfire on houses, WAFA reported.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli soldiers launched a house-to-house search campaign into houses and forced some inhabitants to leave their homes, turning them into military posts.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces demolished early Thursday several houses in the Gaza strip city of Rafah, witnesses said. They reported that Israeli soldiers and bulldozers backed by tanks stormed al-Shaut area, south of Rafah city, and demolished several houses, leaving their inhabitants homeless.

They added that Israeli tanks shelled houses and partially destroyed a house belong to Uwad al-Jamel.

Israel Radio reported that during the raid in Rafah an Israeli soldier was wounded by Palestinian fire. According to the report, he was shot by a Palestinian sniper and was hospitalized in a critical condition.

Late on Wednesday, Israeli U.S-made Apache helicopters fired two missiles at a house belong to Eyd Abu Ayash in Tal-al Sultan area, west of Rafah. Eyewitnesses told WAFA that the two-storey house was partially destroyed. (albawaba.com)
