Israeli soldiers Friday afternoon shot dead two Palestinians that "approached a security fence in a closed military area in the northern Gaza Strip," the Israeli Army said. Initial reports said the two were injured, but later Israel announced it was holding the bodies of the two dead.
Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Friday that the Palestinians were "not doing enough" to prevent attacks on Israel and would have to intensify their efforts before the peace process can be revived. In a telephone conversation Friday with Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik, Sharon said Israel was working to build support for Palestinian Chairman Abbas, but was not seeing any concessions in return, according to a statement released by Sharon's office.
Bondevik is expected to arrive in Israel later this month. (albawaba.com)
