Turkey Intercepts 292 Illegal Immigrants

Turkish security forces intercepted Saturday 292 illegal immigrants in the northwestern province of Canakkale, Anatolia news agency reported. 

The immigrants, among them women and children, were about to board a ship near Ayvacik town on the Aegean coast, the agency said without specifying their nationality and to which country they were heading. 

Italy and Greece are the usual destinations for thousands of Asian and African immigrants who pass through Turkey on their way to Europe – ANKARA (AFP)
