Tunisia's President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali reshuffled his cabinet late Tuesday, appointing new heads to a dozen ministries including that of defense, reported the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).
Dali Jazi, a former presidential advisor, was appointed defense minister to replace Mohamed Jeghan, who will be assigned to other functions, the agency said, citing a list of the new cabinet.
Abdallah Kaabi, the government's former secretary general, was named interior minister, replacing Abdallah Kallal.
Abderrahim Zouari, who recently resigned from his position as secretary general of the ruling Rally of Constitutional Democracy (RCD), was named minister of youth and sport, added KUNA.
Ministries of health, tourism, environment and social affairs were also changing hands, while positions of secretary of state (junior ministers) were being created.
Ahmed Iyadh Ouederni, ex-education minister, was named head of the presidential cabinet, a newly-assigned post.
The new government will be led by Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi, who has held the position since November 1999, said the agency -- Albawaba.com
