ALBAWABA- U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned that Ukraine could face a “global war” if no agreement is reached with Russia, urging both sides to commit to a ceasefire.
“Thousands of young people are dying in Ukraine’s war,” Trump said at a press conference in Washington during a cabinet meeting. “I want a deal to end the war in Ukraine, and I think I will succeed. We will consider sanctions against Russia if a ceasefire is not reached—but we are not going to start World War III. I’m not in a hurry to impose sanctions, but peace has to come.”
Trump noted that over a thousand soldiers were killed last week in the conflict, calling the bloodshed “tragic and unnecessary.” He added that economic measures remain on the table should Moscow reject compromise.
Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff echoed the president’s remarks, saying the administration hopes to see “the conflicts in Russia, Gaza, and Iran resolved by the end of the year.”
He added that long meetings were scheduled this week on Ukraine, Gaza, and Iran, underscoring the White House’s push to secure multiple ceasefires.
