ALBAWABA - U.S. President Trump says he is considering pulling Washington out of NATO after allies refused to support his country during the war with Iran, The Telegraph reported Wednesday.
Trump told the British newspaper that he is strongly thinking about withdrawing his country from NATO after it failed to join his war on Iran.
The president called the alliance a "paper tiger" as he said removing the U.S. from the defence treaty was now "beyond reconsideration", The Telegraph added.
Donald Trump was asked if he would reconsider the U.S.’ membership in the alliance after the conflict. "Oh yes, I would say [it’s] beyond reconsideration,” he answered, adding, "I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that too, by the way."
On March 31, Trump slammed France for being "very unhelpful" in the Iran war after the country's refusal to allow planes headed to Israel to fly over its territory.
