Three Iraqis were wounded on Friday by U.S. soldiers who fired back after a grenade attack on their convoy in Fallujah, some 50 kilometers west of the capital Baghdad.
The convoy was driving through the city when one person reportedly hurled a grenade at the U.S troops. The grenade missed its target.
The U.S. soldiers fired toward the direction of the attacker, wounding three passers-by, according to AFP.
They suffered bullet wounds in the stomach, the legs and feet, according to a doctor from the Fallujah hospital.
Elsewhere, a U.S. soldier was injured in a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack also Friday on an armored military vehicle guarding a bank in the capital of Baghdad, according to a U.S. officer.
While the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, mentioned one casualty, witnesses said three soldiers were injured in the attack in the western neighborhood of Yarmuk.
Meanwhile, another officer, Captain Michael Leonard, said "the attack occurred at 3:30 pm (1230 GMT)", but declined to comment on the number of casualties.
Four men drove up in a car to an intersection facing the Rasheed Bank branch guarded by U.S. soldiers and Iraqi police officials.
According to witnesses, two men got out, hid behind a bush and fired RPGs at the American soldiers. (Albawaba.com)
