Three Australian citizens were wounded in the "murderous and vile" suicide bombings in Israel, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said Wednesday.
Downer called for the Palestinians to crack down on "terrorism," saying the bombings only damaged their cause.
"There is no political justification at all for such murderous and vile acts and they are condemned in the strongest possible terms by the Australian government," Downer told parliament, according to AAP.
He said Australians were among the "innocents" injured in a suicide bombing which killed seven in a cafe in west Jerusalem. "Three Australian women were among those wounded and one of those Australians remains hospitaliZed," Downer said.
"The Jerusalem bombing took place in a crowded cafe and there can be no doubt that innocent people were being targeted."
Downer hailed Palestinian prime minister-designate Ahmed QUrei, also known as Abu Ala, as a man committed to finding peace but said the Palestinians must not allow extremists to derail the peace process. (Albawaba.com)
