About 10,000 Yemenis demonstrated Wednesday in Ibb province in solidarity with the Palestinians in their battle against Israel, the official SABA news agency reported.

The protesters carrying Palestinian flags and chanting solidarity slogans marched through the town of Al-Qaidah, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of the capital Sanaa.

Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis, most carrying weapons, demonstrated in Sanaa on Saturday in support of the Palestinians, demanding strong decisions from the Arab summit.

The Cairo summit provided financial and political support for the Palestinians but failed to agree on a boycott of Israel.

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh called at the opening of the summit, which ended Sunday, for an international force to be set up to protect the Palestinians on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

He also urged the Arabs to provide military and financial aid to fight Israel.

"We wanted the summit resolutions to be stronger and for them to express more clearly the aspirations of the Arab masses," Saleh said upon his return Tuesday.

"However these resolutions represent the minimum required under current Arab circumstances," he said, welcoming the decision to hold a summit every year which Yemen had proposed – SANAA (AFP)
