Third Middle East HR Summit concludes on a successful note

The third Middle East HR Summit concluded on a high note at Dubai’s Hyatt Regency Hotel last week (Wednesday, September 20, 2006) after hosting four-days of focused discussions on important aspects of the regional human resources industry and was attended by over 300 regional and international HR professionals.

Jackie Wilks, Summit Director of IIR Middle East said: “We are extremely pleased with the success of the third Middle East HR Summit. The enthusiastic response from the region’s organisations and serious participation from HR professionals contributed to making the event an effective interactive forum for discussing pertinent HR approaches and strategies.”

The event opened with an enlightening workshop conducted by the world’s reigning strategy guru Professor Gary Hamel on the topic, “Reinventing Management – The Why, What and How of Management Innovation” and saw the participation of more than 300 management executives and human resource professionals drawn from public organisations and corporate entities in the region.

The event also featured presentations from over 50 expert speakers on a wide range of relevant topics such as trends in the future of HR in the Middle East; Gulf compensation trends; nurturing local talent; recruitment strategies in a world where competitiveness demands creativity; strategies for rewarding and retaining talent and promoting productive workplace behaviours. Workshops held on the last day explored the issues of performance management, organisational Resourcing, compensation and benefits and leadership.

The Middle East HR Summit Excellence Awards 2006 were celebrated at a gala dinner held on 18th September.  The ‘HR Professional of the Year’, sponsored by Innovative HR Solutions was shared by Jane Carter of Al Futtaim Carillion, UAE and Amro Rashad of the Ali Bin Ali Group, Qatar whilst the award for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to HR’ sponsored by IIR Middle East was won by Adrian Samms of Showtime, UAE.

The Middle East HR Summit was sponsored by Saudi Development & Training, Air Miles Incentives, Crown Relocations, SpenglerFox, Grafton Recruitment, Mawaride, Personnel Decisions International, University of Wollongong in Dubai, Career Mideast.com, Sage Software and Sage Abra HRMS.

Organised by IIR Middle East, the Summit, the region’s premier annual conference and exhibition for Human Resource professionals, also drew the participation of exhibitors such as Business Systems House, Focus Learning Corporation, Watson Wyatt, Synchronicity, Extended DISC, EMA Partners International and MAC.
