Tawam Hospital becomes regional showcase for Philips’ iSite PACS

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) and Tawam Hospital, the Middle East’s leading medical institution in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine International, recently signed a reference site agreement for Philips’ iSite Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), which is an image management system that integrates with the Hospital Information System (HIS) and provides a seamless workflow across the enterprise.

Tawam Hospital is the largest hospital in Al Ain and in December, became the first public hospital in the Middle East to install the Philips iSite PACS . Tawam Hospital provides specialized medical services including radiotherapy, cardiac care, breast cancer screening and diabetes management.

“Since installing the Philips iSite solution it has definitely proved to make image data management much easier to safely store and distribute, plus providing our clinicians with fast and easy access to images at all times regardless of when or where they are situated”, said Michael E. Heindel, CEO of Tawam Hospital.

Ed Lembcke, Operating Officer for Tawam Hospital also said, “Philips iSite has been integrated seamlessly with our Cerner Hospital Information System and this combination of tools is enabling our clinicians to deliver better patient care. Tawam has seen dramatic reductions in report turnaround times and referring physicians now have better information to make clinical decisions.”

“With Tawam Hospital’s reference site agreement in place, our potential customers get to witness the iSite PACS application live in an active hospital environment”, adds Diederik Zeven, Senior Director and General Manager for Philips Healthcare Middle East.
