ALBAWABA - Tanzania's election results caused violence across the country as the government shut down communications on Thursday, AFP reported.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan wants to remain in position and has silenced her rivals by either placing them in jail or barring them from standing.

After the elections, hundreds took to the streets in Tanzania in massive, chaotic protests.

An AFP journalist revealed that demonstrators set a police station on fire in the economic hub of Dar es Salaam. Others destroyed polling stations or tore down images of the president in several areas across Tanzania.

A diplomatic source told AFP that initial, unconfirmed reports suggest that at least 30 were killed in the latest violence.
