The National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia), is geared up to play a significant role at the Sixth Training & Employment Week that will be held in Al Ain from March 26-28, 2007. The Training and Employment Week is organised by UAE University and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al-Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of UAE University and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Students and prospective employers attending the event will stand to gain from Tanmia’s participation as the employment authority can provide details and statistics on the labour market in the UAE. Tanmia will also closely interact with participating companies to find out about suitable employment opportunities for job seekers in its database.

“The Training & Employment Week in Al Ain is another platform for Tanmia to further its emiratisation drive as the event attracts a large number of companies from the private sector who are keen on increasing the UAE National headcount in their workforce. Companies have realised that Nationals do not lack in ability or effort and they can perform beyond expectations if they are given an opportunity,”said Saif Al Noaimi, Director of Center for Career Guidance and Planning (CCGP), Tanmia.

“We hope to play a crucial role at the Employment Week which will prove beneficial to both the job seekers and the prospective employers, and we are confident that this edition of the event will also turn out to be highly successful,” Al Noaimi added.

The Sixth Training & Employment Week comprises a new set of activities including an exhibition hosting some of the leading national institutions that will meet students who would be their prospective employees. The institutions will disclose their job opportunities as well as their human resources and professional needs. The event also aims at organising seminars and conferences during which the participating institutions talk about their respective businesses and projects that will be launched in the UAE.

About Tanmia:
Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and government sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market. The responsibilities that rest with the Authority are: to set up the overall policy of the Authority and supervise its implementation, conduct sustained operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, provide career counseling and guidance to the national work force, follow-up and evaluate employment of nationals in public and private sectors, support small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources and develop programmes for training and qualifying nationals seeking employment, in conformity with the labour market needs.
