Syria's Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa Miro presented Wednesday his government’s resignation to President Bashar al-Assad.

President al-Assad accepted the resignation of the government and instructed Eng. Muhammed Naji Atri, Speaker of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) to form a new cabinet, SANA reported. The President asked Miro to run the outgoing government until the formation of a new government.

At the end of 2001, Miro formed his second government of 35 ministers. Its main characteristics was a reduction in the share of the ruling Baath party from 26 to 19 ministers and an increase in the share of independents and members of the National Progressive Front.

Syrian sources have recently expected a government reshuffle before the end of this year. (Albawaba.com)
