The Syrian government Saturday accused rebels of using chemical weapons in Damascus, while the opposition claims the regime is to blame for the death of up to 1,300 people on Wednesday.
State television screened images of "barrels filled with highly dangerous toxic and chemical agents, as well as gas marks, saying these had been found in rebel positions in the Syrian capital, according to the AFP.
The rebels are accused of using "these agents to try to half the advance of the army".
So far the Syrian government has refused to let U.N. inspectors, currently in the Syrian capital, visit the sites of the alleged attacks.
