Syrian authorities, cracking down on corrupt officials, have seized the assets of former deputy prime minister for economic affairs Salim Yassin, the ruling party's Al-Baath newspaper said Monday.
The ruling affects the financial and property assets of Yassin, his wife and his chidren, Al-Baath said.
Similar action has also been taken against former transport minister Mufid Abdel Karim, who was put in detention a week ago as part of a corruption investigation, the newspaper said Sunday.
Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa Miro vowed when he took office in March to "modernize the administration."
