The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria are expected to meet in Cairo Monday to discuss the situation in Iraq and the Palestinian territories, according to Arab diplomats.

Ahmed Maher, Saud al-Faisal and Faruq al-Shara have been tasked with "elaborating a unified Arab position" on Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the diplomats stated.

The decision for the meeting was taken during a visit to the Syrian capital of Damascus Saturday by Saudi Crown Prince Abdul Aziz, who met in Cairo on Sunday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

According to MENA news agency, the two Arab leaders expressed their support for a greater UN role in efforts to rebuild Iraq. (Albawaba.com)
