Symantec today announced that it
has been awarded 'Best Vendor Channel Programme of the Year' at the Channel
Middle East Awards ceremony, a day after collecting the 'Best Security Vendor
2009 accolade' at the Choice of Channel Award's organized by VAR magazine.
Now in its third year, the Channel Middle East Awards - organised by publishing
house ITP - pays tribute to the outstanding achievements of vendors and their
channel partners during the past year. The reader-voted 'Best Vendor Channel
Programme of the Year' award acknowledges Symantec's loyalty to its Middle East
partners, in particular its dedication to driving channel growth through
business development and reseller initiatives. Symantec received the most votes
from a shortlist of seven vendors.
Andrew Seymour, Editor of Channel ME magazine said: "The Symantec Partner
Programme provides resellers with an array of business development resources and
training opportunities. Comprising four membership levels that offer a range of
benefits reflecting each partner's performance and investment in the
relationship, the programme is also notable for the number of incentive schemes
that reward company and individual performance."
The Prestigious Choice of Channel Awards, held on the 21st of March at the
Meydan hotel in Dubai, applauded the outstanding achievements of the region's IT
industry. Symantec was presented with the popularity-based 'Security Vendor of
the year' award following votes from the region's local channel market which
comprised of resellers, VARs, and retailers.
According to the VAR Awards website: "Probably, security is the category that is
rising fast in prominence in the IT industry. Many fast rising vendors have also
made their name indifferent niches of information security but Symantec has
maintained its lead as the popular choice in the channel."
