For nearly two years, Sudan has been engulfed in a devastating war between the RSF and the Sudanese army, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and displacing over 12 million people.

ALBAWABA- Sudan has filed a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of violating the Genocide Convention by providing "direct support" to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The Sudanese government alleges that this backing has enabled genocidal acts against the Masalit people in Darfur.

The UAE strongly rejected the accusations, calling the case a "cynical publicity stunt" and vowing to seek its immediate dismissal.

UAE Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash took to X (formerly Twitter), stating that Sudan should focus on ending its "absurd and destructive war" and addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis, rather than engaging in "feeble media maneuvers" to justify its stance against peace efforts.

For nearly two years, Sudan has been engulfed in a devastating war between the RSF and the Sudanese army, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and displacing over 12 million people.

The conflict has led to state collapse, with famine declared in parts of the country and fighting spreading across Sudan, including the volatile Darfur region.

While the RSF denies involvement in attacks on civilians, reports indicate it has recently surrounded and attacked the Zamzam refugee camp near el-Fasher in North Darfur, further raising concerns over ongoing atrocities.
