The 15th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival is proving to be a boon to shoppers and retailers in Al Ghurair City, one of the participating malls and a key sponsor of this year’s Festival, the region’s leading shopping, leisure and entertainment spectacle.
Shoppers at the city’s pioneering shopping centre are delighted with the variety of discounts and deals on offer. Ehsan Osuli, from Iran, and his family have been visiting Dubai for the last three years during the festival, citing the great variety of shops as one of the reasons for his multiple visits. “There are so many shops offering so many different kinds of things. I especially visit Al Ghurair City because it’s very relaxing to shop here, and I can find almost everything I need for my family.”
Ehsan also said Ghurair’s close proximity to his hotel was a great bonus. The mall is situated in Deira, one of the busiest commercial and residential districts in Dubai and is home to an assortment of both luxury and budget hotels.
Ahmed Bouzidi, supervisor at furniture retailer 2XL, says DSF has helped boost sales during the festival period. Bouzidi noted that he has seen a better than average footfall compared to the pre-festival period. “We have a good number of customers from Russia and the other Arab countries who are impressed with our extensive collection of contemporary and stylish furniture, and the great discount deals we are offering during DSF,” he added.
Springfield’s store supervisor, Jocelyn Santos, confirms DSF has done a good deal to bring in shoppers. “Compared to before the festival, we have more customers, especially during weekends. They’re mostly Russian and Iranian tourists,” she said.
Algeria’s Benmatssa Djellool brought his family to Dubai for a holiday. Speaking in a mix of French and English, he said, “We have been here three times. Shopping sont grandes (Shopping is great).” He has been to other malls, but likes the relaxing ambience in Al Ghurair City.
Besides the great discounts and deals, shoppers have also been flocking to Al Ghurair City for an enticing “You Buy, They Fly” promotion, which entitles shoppers spending a minimum AED200 in any of Al Ghurair City’s shops a chance to enter a daily raffle draw, where they can win 2 Emirates return tickets daily to fly-in their loved ones to Dubai.
We caught a Filipina shopper dropping her coupon for the daily draw. “This is one of the reasons why I’m shopping here. If I’m lucky I can bring one of my parents or my siblings.”
