H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today opened the `Ras Al Khaimah Services and Recruitment Exhibition’ at the RAK Exhibition Centre here.
The four- day exhibition, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, and supported by Ras Al Khaimah Civil Services Department, aims to provide a platform for UAE nationals to meet and interact with potential employers from various government departments, public sector enterprises, banks and other firms.
Speaking after the ribbon cutting ceremony, Sheikh Saud said that the exhibition would help RAK Government and other organisations to attract national talent and effectively contribute towards national human resource development.
“The event brings together key government departments as well as corporate entities and will provide UAE national job aspirants an opportunity to explore and identify appropriate job openings through direct interaction with the organisations,” he added.
Mohammad A Al Mehrizi, Director of the RAK Civil Services Department, said that the department is offering 200 job openings for nationals in various RAK government departments, which will be filled up by March 2009. “We hope to attract the right talent and aspiring local candidates can submit their CVs at the department’s exhibition stand,” he said.
Mehrizi added that RAK Civil Services Department had recently entered into agreements with several private firms to help provide more employment opportunities to UAE nationals.
Abdulnasser Al Thahab, General Manager of Vision Exhibitions and Conference Organisors, the organisor of the event, said that as many as 20 establishments are participating in the exhibition which will last till January 24. The exhibition will be open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm till 9 pm.
The participants from the government sector included RAK Economic Development Department, RAK Public Works and Services Department, RAK Customs and Ports Department, RAK e- Government Authority, Land Department, RAK Courts Department, RAK Driving Academy, Sheikh Saqr Programme for Government Excellence, Saud bin Saqr Programme for Young Business Leaders and RAK Free Trade Zone, apart from UAE Navy, UAE Air Force and Air Defense, among others.
UAE telecommunications provider, Etisalat, Etihad Airways and companies like Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar), RAK Bank and Commercial Bank International (CBI) also took part in the exhibition.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Civil Aviation, Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of RAK Economic Development Department, heads of various government departments and other senior officials.
