Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon held talks on the Middle East peace process with King Mohammed VI of Morocco and European Union foreign policy chief on Friday, his office announced.
In his telephone talk with King Mohammed, Sharon hailed the monarch's involvement in the process.
"It is important that countries like Morocco put pressure on the Palestinians to fight terrorism and dismantle terrorist organisations, which is the only way to push the peace process forward," a statement from the prime minister's office said.
Sharon told the king that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat "is an obstacle to peace and he will do everything he can to make the peace process and the work of Abu Mazen fail".
Sharon called on the European Union to put Hamas on the list of "terror" groups, in his phone conversation with Solana. Sharon also called on stopping the flow of money to Hamas from Europe. (Albawaba.com)
