A bomb hidden in a bag went off Friday outside a compound housing Algerian police officials, injuring eight people, security officials said. The attack came following two deadly terrorist attacks last week by al-Qarda's North Africa.
The latest blast hit the town of Zemmouri, 50 kilometres east of Algiers, residents said, according to the AP. The wounded were sent to a hospital in nearby Borj Menaiel.
Eight people were wounded, and two of them were in serious condition, said a security official. The bomb was hidden in a bag and placed at the entrance to the police housing compound, adjacent to an open-air market, the official said.
