School choirs invited to participate in AUB-held music competition
On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Zaki's passing, the Zaki Nassif Music Program at the American University of Beirut is inaugurating the Zaki Nassif Festival Competition, whose goal is to promote choral music in Lebanon and the region, and to celebrate the musical heritage of Zaki Nassif. Entry into the competition is free of charge to all participats
The theme of this year's festival is "A Choir From Every School," and will begin with Round One on April 4, 2009, in Assembly Hall, AUB.
The competition will be held under two categories: Children's choirs, for children less than 14 years old and Youth Choirs, for those more than 13 years old. Choirs should consist of a minimum of 10 singers and a maximum of 80. Each school is allowed to enroll only one choir.
DEADLINE for REGISTRATION: Friday, March 6, 2009.
Festival Competition Round onewill take place on April 4; while Round 2will take place on May 16.
