Saudi Mufti lashed out at the demonstrations staged by hundreds of Saudis in Riyadh and said those involved were trouble-makers who do not understand the kingdom's interests. He added that no attention should be paid to the protesters.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh said in remarks to the Saudi Al Jazeera newspaper issued Wednesday that staging demonstrations randomly and following the behavior of the non-Muslims was not the way to demand things, noting the doors of Saudi officials were always open for citizens to express wishes and demands.
These comments came after Saudi security forces detained 150 citizens who participated Tuesday in demonstrations, demanding more political reforms.
Al-Sheikh said these demonstrations were "chaotic acts unrecognized by a good society," adding that "reform cannot come through chaos." He urged MuslIms to act legitimately for reform and to protect the nation's interests. (Albawaba.com)
