King Fahd, who was taken to a Riyadh hospital on Friday, is apparently suffering from pneumonia, unofficial reports have indicated. An official source, meanwhile, said King Fahd is in "good" health and was undergoing normal medical examinations.
Crown Prince Abdullah, who received a telephone call from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak late Friday, reassured the president that King Fahd is doing well and is undergoing normal tests, official reports said.
Saudi Arabia denied reports carried by some foreign agencies and television stations that the Kingdom had declared a state of alert and had canceled all leave of security forces. The interior ministry denied that any emergency had been declared.
"This is absolutely not true," ministry spokesman Mansour Al Turki said. "There's no cancelling of leaves and no state of emergency or anything."
