Satyam Computer Services Limited, a global consulting and IT service provider, Tuesday announced that it has bagged a US$1 million Oracle e-Business suite deal from Jordan’s third largest GSM operator Umniah Mobile Company (UMC). UMC is the first telecom operator in Jordan to adopt the third GSM business model in Middle East.

Satyam will implement a CRM solution with a POS system for UMC's customer contact center, which will be integrated with Oracle Financials, Procurement & Inventory modules in the back office. These systems will further be integrated with UMC's mediation, provisioning, billing systems and IN (Intelligent Network).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ajith Menon, Head of Satyam’s Middle East Operations, said: “As a leader in Enterprise Application and with our expertise in the Telecom sector, we work towards delivering and adding value to our customer’s business, and helping them leverage new technologies to gain a competitive edge. With this development we will be contributing to Umniah Mobile Company’s growth strategy by offering a CRM solution, application design and development on a global scale.”
“We were looking for a technology partner with expertise in the telecom domain and a strong track record in implementing oracle applications for new GSM operators. Satyam met our requirements beyond our expectations”, Mr. Michael Dagher, Partner & CEO of Umniah Mobile Company said. “Satyam’s rapid implementation methodology and capability in delivering the project within a defined time frame and budget were additional advantages for us, which made it an obvious choice for a partnership”, he added.
Satyam has proven expertise in designing solutions for wireless, wireline, ISP and broadband content providers across the globe. Additionally, it has a strong standard in billing solutions that is globally accepted and utilized globally in GSM, GPRS and co-existing GSM/GPRS networks.
Satyam’s telecom service offerings include a wide range of solutions that encompass strategic business and technology consultancy, systems integration for enterprises, operations, and business and network support systems.

Umniah was awarded its license from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in August 2004. Partner and CEO Michael Dagher, a former CEO of a major telecommunications company in the country and a veteran in the field, and his Kuwaiti partners, Al Ghanem Group, are investing JD250 million in Umniah Mobile Company, which is the latest mobile service operator. The company is expected to contribute to creating hundreds of job opportunities for the local market and increasing the volume of investments in the Jordanian telecommunications sector. Umniah is expected to also develop the telecommunications sector through enhanced customer services and improved rates, an innovative management style, development of its human resources, and superior technology.
