SAP in the Middle East & North Africa today announced it has developed a strategic partnership with United Technology Solutions (UTS), a leading systems integrator and supplier of information technology solutions catering to Jordan’s public sector.

Under the agreement, UTS will become an SAP value-added reseller (VAR) in the Kingdom, integrating SAP’s solutions within its offering and providing a key channel for the world’s leading provider of business software to extend its reach into Jordan.

Recognizing the importance of IT as a critical component of the local Jordanian economy, UTS and SAP will also work together to contribute to skills development and employment within Jordan’s IT sector by leveraging SAP’s network and resources across the Middle East and globally.

To help pave the way for this growth and support Jordan’s knowledge economy, SAP will offer the SAP Scholarship Program aimed at talented Jordanian IT students that will help them complete their studies abroad at universities in Europe through SAP sponsored courses.

In Jordan, SAP and UTS will collaborate to roll out educational programs at Jordanian Universities including SAP’s University Alliance Program, which will help students tap into SAP’s employment network and gain sought-after technical skills.

“Our partnership with SAP will not only enable us to leverage global expertise and best practices in public services, but help us nurture the development of Jordan’s IT workforce – ultimately ensuring long-term economic success,” said Daoud Abboud, CEO of UTS.

Jordan represents an important part of SAP’s regional growth strategy as the company focuses on developing its customer base through various distribution channels. With partners such as UTS, SAP can now offer the Jordanian market localized, government-specific support.

Mr. Sergio Maccotta, Managing Director of SAP Middle East and North Africa LLC, said, “SAP’s partnership with UTS provides us with a key long-term partner within our ecosystem, giving us the right network, local knowledge and technical skills to offer our customized solutions.”

“As part of our commitment to the Jordanian market, we are keen to help build the IT skills and technological infrastructure required to support the modernization of the Kingdom’s public sector and the development of its growing knowledge-based economy,” he added.

UTS and SAP recognizes the importance of developing the IT sector as a critical component to the local Jordanian economy by contributing to skills development, employment and growth.
