Samsung is adding a student IT training program to its growing Corporate Social Responsibility platform

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in the consumer electronics industry, announced today its special six month 100 students program to train 50 boys & 50 girls within the age group of 14 to 19 years, from Al-Bir Society at the New Horizons Institute.

Samsung's continuous ethical and responsible support for community service activities throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will provide the upcoming generation with the best in class training and education for a brighter and better tomorrow.

Education is the key for a successful development of society, and is a stairway for personal progress. Samsung realizes this criterion will initiate a positive impact on the society and this CSR program aims to sow roots of excellence and enhance underprivileged livelihoods to enter the competitive employment world. The policy is to deliver a sustainable model, in such a way that underprivileged members of society are able to stand on their own feet, and can participate in the economy through their enhanced capacities and newly generated learning skills.

New Horizons is the largest independent IT training institution, chosen by Samsung Electronics, to train, develop and modernize the IT skills of these individuals and receive the adequate knowledge to enter a secure, life-long career path. Samsung's initiative includes sponsoring the bright individuals from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam for a period of approximately a year, where they will be receiving training from certified instructors with the latest curriculum on the education of the utmost cutting edge technology. Samsung Electronics will also by no doubt stand by New Horizons that will guarantee to the students, professional international expertise to train the students to achieve the maximum desired benefit of this program.

This program is supervised and sponsored by Samsung Electronics which is incurring all costs pertaining to the students' tuitions, and a graduation ceremony in honor of the students will be celebrated by the end of the program with the attendance of a number of officials from Samsung Electronics and Al-Bir Society. Moreover, Samsung is also looking forward to make the top ranked students of the graduating class, future employees of Samsung Electronics and their partners within KSA and through other job opportunities which will be secured by the job placement program that falls under New Horizons.

For his part, Mr. Gye Choon Cho, General Manager of Samsung Electronics, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said: "With a special support from Nomaan Abdul Majeed and Inamullah Butt from the corporate marketing team, our mission from this CSR program is to help, prepare and train these ambitious individuals on the modern, technical skills and receive the necessary know-how to enter the work environment and begin to set forth their career goals."

Mr Cho also added that: "This program is considered unique and one-of-a-kind in terms the curriculum as it is aimed at achieving significant benefits in light of the vast technological advancements. This stems from our continued commitment for supporting productive and beneficial programs targeted throughout the Kingdom."

Its worth mentioning that Samsung Electronics –Saudi Arabia employees will also contribute to the development and education of the students by sharing expertise via an exclusive Volunteer program. It will also enable participative management and student training. Each month, one department head & Samsung employees will visit New Horizons Institute, and present the students with an insightful lecture on the area of his expertise. This will continue to benefit students for whole period of the program.
