Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov on Thursday said the situation aboard the sunken Kursk nuclear submarine was "close to catastrophic," Interfax reported.
"One wants to hope that there is still a chance left to save the crew," he added.
"In the past night, there were no cardinal changes for either the better or the worse" in Russia's floundering rescue efforts, he said.
His comments came at the start of a previously scheduled cabinet meeting - MOSCOW (AFP)
