ALBAWABA - Russia announced on Thursday that the army has regained control over 10 villages in the Kursk region.

Russia confirmed that 10 settlements in the Kursk border region were taken from Ukraine a month after Kyiv launched the largest cross-border incursion, AFP reported citing Russian defense ministry.

In a statement posted via Telegram, the defense ministry said: "Units of the 'North' group of troops liberated 10 settlements within two days."

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Russian army has begun a counter-offensive in Kursk region.

"Russians have launched counter-offensive actions, which is going in line with our Ukrainian plan," Zelensky said during a press conference in the Ukrainian capital.

Zelensky also slammed the West for delaying an order to allow the Ukrainian army to use social missiles to strike Russia.
