ALBAWABA - According to local activists, Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have heavily bombarded El Fasher leading to the killing of at least 65 people.
A statement by El-Fasher Resistance Committees revealed that in just three days the RSF had killed more than 43 children, 13 women, and nine men among the people of El Fasher".
The statement added that "more than 70 rockets were launched in just one day by the Janjaweed militias at hospitals, homes, mosques, and markets".
Darfur region governor Minni Minnawi denounced the killing of civilians in his city. "Today is one of the bloodiest days in El-Fasher, for the civilian population, the mosques and the hospitals, especially the Saudi hospital," Minnawi wrote.
Minawi added that the "RSF had received two days ago a missile system from El-Geneina", the capital of West Darfur. "The silence of the international community is shameful", he said.
According to the United Nations, Sudan is facing the world's worst internal displacement crisis, with more than 7 million people forced to escape internally or abroad as a result of the war, in addition to the 3.8 million who were already displaced.
Sudan's conflict has sparked warnings of famine, and both sides have been accused of war crimes including deliberately targeting civilians.
The RSF have established themselves in Khartoum's residential neighborhoods, occupying houses, businesses, and critical infrastructure, particularly healthcare institutions.
The RSF has perpetrated major violations of international humanitarian law in regions under its control, including widespread sexual and gender-based abuse, wrongful imprisonment and incarceration of people, and plunder.
Human Rights Watch, revealed that Sudan's Rapid Support Forces have committed acts of sexual violence against women and girls in Khartoum.
The report documents cases of sexual violence, as well as forced and child marriage during the conflict, in Khartoum and other cities across Sudan. HRW obtained testimonies from women and girls saying they were being held captive by RSF in conditions that could amount to sexual slavery.
