During its annual trade show that was held in Santa Monica-California, the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) announced the winners of its marketing awards for the year 2006, Whereby the Royal Film Commission of Jordan was honored with three awards .
The RFC was recognized in three categories during this annual event; first place for a colored full page advertisement, first place for it’s location brochure, and second place for its corporate logo and identity; all distinguishing RFC in Jordan for its reference to cultural significance and high intrinsic quality.
The location brochure, designed and produced by Wunderman, the direct marketing arm of The Holding Group (THG), is a comprehensive marketing piece comprising information on Jordan as a tourist and culturally rich destination, a map of the Kingdom, information on the Royal Film Commission and a multi-media CD. The design encompasses the Jordanian spirit with earthy tones emphasized by the rosy red hues of Petra. Design and materials used were specifically chosen to reflect the RFC’s modern approach to filmmaking.
The full page colored advertisement depicting a man dressed in full winter attire fishing in Rum Valley, served to reiterate the RFC’s drive towards integrating various cultures to produce art that is void of cultural boundaries, essentially underpinning the philosophy of the RFC in that ‘Anything is possible in Jordan’.
The Royal Film Commission of Jordan, as the sole Middle Eastern member in AFCI, submitted its artwork into the Marketing Competition and competed alongside 180 other film commissions representing 30 countries.
The Royal Film Commission of Jordan was established in July 2003 with a gaol of developing and promoting an internationally competitive Jordanian audio-visual industry through building the human, technical and financial capacity of Jordanian youth, in addition to providing comprehensive production support services to local, regional and international productions. The Royal Film Commission is a financially and administratively autonomous Jordanian government body led by a board of Commissioners chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein. The RFC believes that filmmaking is a form of creative expression that transcends borders promoting cross-cultural understanding through the sharing of stories, thoughts and ideas. Jordan is a staunch supporter of Intellectual Property Rights. For more information about the Royal Film Commission, visit www.film.jo
