The Royal Film Commission of Jordan (RFC) announced the launch of its nationwide screening program for the second year running. This will start today, in Karak, with an evening of Jordanian short films. The show will begin at 6 pm and will be held at the Al Hassan Cultural Centre. RFC invites all citizens of Karak to attend the screenings which will be open to everyone and free of charge.
The screening, which will last for one hour and a half, will include seven short films created and directed by Jordanian talents; “Talween”, “Youm Zenon”, “Falling" “My Jihad”, “Countryside vs. City”, “Caution, Comment ahead”, and “The Nerd”. The short films discuss the theme of the journey of youth towards self-realization, and narrate the stories of young people by putting them under the spotlight.
The Royal Film Commission aims at holding screenings across the kingdom to build multimedia literacy, and a film industry oriented culture as well as introducing emerging Jordanian talents to the public.
The Royal Film Commission (RFC) of Jordan was established in July 2003 with a goal of developing and promoting an internationally competitive Jordanian audio-visual industry through building the human, technical and financial capacity of Jordanian talents by means of holding high-level workshops, seminars, competitions, and screenings conducted by professionals from all over the world, in addition to providing production support services to local, regional and international productions.
As a financially and administratively autonomous Jordanian government body, the Royal Film Commission is led by a board of Commissioners chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein and is the sole Middle Eastern member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). The RFC was recently recognised for its dynamic use of various marketing tools at the AFCI Marketing awards 2006.
The Royal Film Commission believes that filmmaking is a form of creative expression that transcends borders to produce art void of cultural boundaries through the sharing of stories, thoughts and ideas. RFC aims at promoting Jordan as a staunch supporter of Intellectual Property Rights. For more information about the Royal Film Commission, visit www.film.jo
