29-year-old forward Richard Jefferson will play for the San Antonio Spurs next season, after being traded in a three team deal from the Milwaukee Bucks. The deal will clear up some financial space for the Bucks.
The Bucks got 38-year-old forward Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas. The Pistons were the third team involved in the trade. They received Fabricio Oberto from the Spurs and dealt Amir Johnson to the Bucks.
The Bucks will save $3 million this season, and will have $18 million world in expiring deals after the 2010-’11 season.
Bucks general manager John Hammond said, “What this trade is going to give us is options and opportunities moving forward.”
