Israeli sources have said that the Palestinian accused of collaborating with Israel in the killing of Hamas military leader Ibrahim Bani Oudeh, was “kidnapped by Palestinian security agents from within the Green Line where he was under Israeli control,” according to the Hebrew news-Israel website.

The Palestinian Authority said earlier Thursday that it had apprehended Alan Bani Odeh, 24, in the West Bank city of Nablus last Thursday, according to The Jerusalem Post newspaper.

Alan is Ibrahim’s cousin, the PA said. Both are from the village of Tammoun near Nablus.

The Paper quoted a Palestinian official as saying that the man planted an explosive charge in the headrest of Odeh's car, which detonated while Odeh sat in the vehicle, killing him.

Odeh was the head of Izzadin Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

According to AFP, Palestinian police said they suspect Israel of assassinating Beni Odeh by using a collaborator to plant a bomb in the headrest of the car.

Hamas officials said the victim was jailed by Palestinian police for more than two years for making bombs, and had been released for a holiday the day before he died, with prison officials saying they feared Israel would bomb the prison, said the agency.

Initial reports said that the Hamas leader was killed by a helicopter rocket. - (Several Sources)
