The Varkey Group, which owns and manages Welcare Hospital, has introduced its newly established branch, American Healthcare Management Systems Ltd. (AHMSL), in the UAE, according to Emirates News Agency.

A memo of understanding was signed between Emaar Properties and AHMSL for the construction of the new, world-class 300-bed hospital to be built near Emaar's Gold and Diamond Park facility in Jumeirah, according to UAE dailies’ reports. Alabbar and Sunny Varkey, Chairman of the Welcare Hospital and Varkey Group signed the memo.

The project, estimated to cost approximately Dh250 million, will offer various medical facilities that have previously been unavailable in the UAE, such as organ transplant units, cardio-thoracic surgery facilities and comprehensive oncology servicing units.

In order to design the hospital, an expert hospital architect will shortly be appointed. The first phase will feature a 100-bed capacity wing. As its first major contract, AHMSL will take over the complete facility management of the multi-speciality hospital, intended to be the region's largest hospital.

Through a number of alliances with known names in the healthcare field in the U.S., HSG Philipp Holzmann Technischer Service GmbH (Germany), AHMSL was created with the intent of providing quality management and consultative services to healthcare service providers in different countries. Such areas include the GCC region, South Africa, the Far East and beyond. (albawaba.com)
