Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), a major provider of investment opportunities and one-stop solutions in its free zones, industrial parks and offshore facilities as well as in real estate developments and other ventures, has announced that it will act as co-host of the Global Arab Business Meeting to be held from September 26 to 27, 2010, at the Al Hamra Palace Hotel in Ras Al Khaimah. The inaugural edition of the Global Arab Business Meeting will gather leading Arab business leaders and their global counterparts to discuss opportunities and challenges in the Arab World and to determine how the region's robust economy can contribute to global recovery from the recent economic downturn.

RAKIA's co-hosting of the high-profile meeting is part of an extensive campaign to boost Ras Al Khaimah's reputation as a major investment destination in the region, while at the same time opening a new gateway for decision makers from around the world to explore new business prospects and expansion opportunities in the emirate. The inaugural Global Arab Business Meeting will also serve as a showcase of Ras Al Khaimah's world-class expertise to host major international events, complementing ongoing initiatives to develop the emirate as a leading destination for business and leisure tourism.

H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, who will be among the high profile delegates at the event, said: "The Global Arab Business Meeting is an important step towards strengthening relations and encouraging more collaborative efforts between the Arab World and countries from other regions. It is even more significant that the inaugural Global Arab Business Meeting is being held in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the region's fast-emerging investment havens, as it will highlight the growing business and investment opportunities that have emerged in the Middle East."

Dr. Khater Massaad, CEO, RAKIA, said: "The Global Arab Business Meeting will gather some of the most prominent global business leaders to discuss strategies that will boost cooperation and strengthen strategic ties between the Arab World and other countries. The Meeting will likewise discuss some of the most pressing concerns related to sustainable socioeconomic development such as renewable energy, human resources, globalisation, technology and the role of fast-emerging investment havens such as Ras Al Khaimah in fuelling economic growth. In this regard, RAKIA is taking advantage of the event's high-profile participation to create greater awareness about the significant success that has been achieved by Ras Al Khaimah in terms of developing state-of-the-art business infrastructure and instituting business-friendly policies to attract local and foreign direct investments."

Organised by Horasis, The Global Visions Community is an independent international organisation committed to enacting visions for a sustainable future. The Global Arab Business Meeting will also announce the 2010 Arab Business Leaders of the Year, celebrating outstanding entrepreneurs who have been building and leading successful global firms of Arab origin.

The Meeting will feature world-renowned keynote speakers who will talk about some of the most important issues affecting economic growth in the region, including political relations between the Arab World and other countries, the status of the region's investments in real estate and infrastructure development, overseas investment opportunities, and creating Arab brands, to name a few.

Participants of the event will also have an opportunity to join a tour of various world-class tourist destinations in Ras Al Khaimah, in addition to various social and networking activities being organised during the two-day gathering.

Since its establishment in 2005, RAKIA has become one of the pillars of the emirate's economic progress, generating multi-billion dollars in annual revenues through groundbreaking investment initiatives within the emirate and across international markets. Aside from managing Ras Al Khaimah's Industrial Zone and Free Zone in Al Hamra, and the Industrial Park in Al Ghail, RAKIA has also expanded its operations in other key sectors including offshore services, education and technology, real estate, transportation, energy and investments.
