Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority (RAK FTZA), one of the fastest growing free zone in the region, participated in the seventh ‘Clean Up UAE’ national campaign together with Emirates Environmental Group and the Ras Al Khaimah Government.

Organized by RAK FTZ, the event in Ras Al Khaimah was the biggest yet, with more than 1000 participants. Volunteers, who came from RAK FTZ, government secondary schools, colleges, private companies and individuals picked up rubbish along the Corniche area behind the RAK Kuwaiti Souk.

RAK FTZ and its staff supported the Clean Up UAE campaign for the fourth year as part of the company’s effort to bring together individuals, schools, businesses, community groups and government to focus on improving the local environment.

“We have a long standing commitment to the environment, and Clean Up UAE is one way for us to expand our efforts to the community level,” said Oussama El Omari, CEO and Director General of RAK FTZ. “It is a perfect fit with our environmental efforts of recycling, energy and water conservation.”

The volunteers in the RAK cleanup managed to collect over 1000 bags of waste. The event in RAK was supported by RAK Municipality, which provided trucks to pick up the rubbish; RAK Transport, which provided the buses for the volunteers; Civil Defence, which had ambulances on standby, RAK Police, and the Coast Guard. It was a fun day for everyone and a great day for the environment.
