"Pure Stone" – seemingly formed by the eternal flow of water

"Not the hammer blow, but the water's dance rounds the pebble to beauty." Is there a more expressive way to describe the relationship between stone and water than in this epigram by Rabindranâth Tagore, the Indian-Bengali winner of the Nobel price for literature? For thousands of years, if not since time began, the eternal flow of water has lent unique shapes to even the hardest of stones. It does this with a constant, never-ending power which has not ceased to fascinate us people to the present day. Water and stone – these two elements express original nature, harmonious symbiosis and perfect beauty. Every single pebble, no matter how simple, shines distinctively as a unique specimen.

The Uniqueness of Smoothly-Washed Round Pebbles

Villeroy & Boch has taken its inspiration from this interaction between water and stone and created the unique "Pure Stone" bathroom collection – not with a hammer blow, but using the very latest in production techniques. This technique reproduces the pebbles particularly authentically and reinterprets them in an unusual arrangement. The design of the entire collection is the creation of designer Oliver Conrad. Owing to the organic pebble shape the high-quality ceramic appears strong and tangible, while remaining intentionally simple and reduced. In order to further emphasize the natural pebble look, Villeroy & Boch has developed Grey Stone, a superior glaze with a grey stone look, especially for the top-mounted wash-basins, the bidet, washdown WC and corresponding accessories. When combined with the technique applied this glaze turns every item into a genuinely unique piece. Alternatively, all ceramic elements are also available in various whites, such as star white, weiss (alpin) and edelweiss.

Nature's Power and Peace in the Bathroom

The furniture to match "Pure Stone" is also strikingly natural while displaying extremely high-quality and perfect workmanship. It is made in the harmonious real-wood combination of light oak and dark walnut with matt surfaces, which have been varnished three times and seem to be completely untreated. In order to lend greater intensity to the peace of the design, recessed finger grips and not handles are provided to gently open and close the furniture elements. Atmospheric lighting integrated in the bathroom collection perfects the natural setting.

The natural character is further emphasized by the matching "Source flow" fitting, which feeds the stone with water like an open spring and in so doing, seems to constantly hollow it out even further. Designer Oliver Conrad modeled the fitting on a natural watercourse and partly opened it, like a bamboo cane which has been cut into, and through which the water becomes visible. An elaborate technique ensures that the water accumulates slightly before flowing out into the basin in an extremely clear "spring" jet. In the visible interior of the "cut bamboo cane", Source flow also reveals a delicate shimmer, which is based on the interplay of light on the river-bed pebbles.

The new Premium Collection, "Pure Stone" introduces the power and peace of nature into the bathroom, transforming it into a totally individual refuge. Those who choose "Pure Stone" acquire what many people of our increasingly over-stimulated age long for: "A little bit of nature just for me"

The Product Range: a whole wealth of variety for distinctive interpretations

The different wash-basin variants ensure scope for individual design when furnishing the bathroom. To choose from is a wash-basin, two sizes of top-mounted wash-basins and a smaller hand wash-basin, which can be combined with a one-hand fitting or a bib fitting. All wash-basins are available without overflow, which makes them particularly attractive aesthetically. The wash-basins and bidet are offered with a grid drain or integrated outlet and overflow system that allow the water to be collected.

Included in the collection are also a wall-mounted washdown WC with matching toilet seat and equipped with "Soft Closing" and "Quick Release" features, and a wall-mounted bidet. The collection is rounded off both functionally and aesthetically by its three ceramic accessories: soap dish, jar and decorative stone.

The soft contours of the "Source" series have been taken up for the "Source flow" series of fittings and reinterpreted in an unusual way. In addition to the "cut-into" bib fittings, "Source flow" also comprises a one-hand mixer tap, both for wash-basins and bidets, all finished with a chromium metal surface. Further fittings and accessories can be supplemented from "Source" series.
