Commissioner of the European Union (EU), Romano Prodi, will start Wednesday a Middle East tour that will take him to Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, EU spokesman, Gunnar Weigand, was quoted as saying by the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).
Prodi's tour is aimed at finding possible ways to revive the stumbling peace process, said the agency.
In Amman, Prodi will hold talks with King Abdullah and other senior officials on bilateral ties, said the spokesman.
During his visit to Lebanon, Prodi will also hold bilateral talks with President Emile Lahoud, particularly the current negotiations over striking a comprehensive agreement for partnership and cooperation between the EU and Lebanon.
In Damascus, the EU commissioner will hold similar talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad, said KUNA -- Albawaba.com
