ALBAWABA - The Saudi Royal Court announced yesterday, Jan. 4, the death of Princess Mona Riad Al Solh, the mother of Prince Al Waleed bin Talal.
Prince Alwaleed bin Talal wrote on his account on X (formerly Twitter): "May God have mercy on the mother, Princess Mona Riad Al Solh."
The Royal Court confirmed in a statement: "The mother of His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has passed away. Prayers will be held for her - God willing - tomorrow, Sunday, corresponding to 5/7/1446 AH, after the afternoon prayer at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh."
It is worth noting that Princess Mona is a well-known Arab figure, who held both Saudi and Lebanese nationalities.
Her father, Riad Al Solh, was the first to become Prime Minister after Lebanon's independence.
In addition to Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Princess Mona's son Abdulaziz bin Talal also posted on X mourning the death of his mother by saying: "With hearts that believe in God’s will and destiny, and with great sadness and sorrow, we mourn our dear mother, Princess Mona Riad Al Solh - may God have mercy on her and forgive her - the mother of His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, who passed away to the mercy of God Almighty today."
