Philippine President Joseph Estrada convened a high-level security meeting following a series of bomb attacks in Manila that left at least 11 people dead and more than 70 wounded, officials said.

Press Secretary Michael Toledo said Estrada was conferring with his interior secretary, national security adviser and leaders of the national police and the military to prevent further attacks.

Police suspect Muslim extremists and communist guerrillas were behind the blasts.

Estrada has also dispatched First Lady Luisa Ejercito to check on the injured victims at various hospitals in Manila, officials said -- MANILA (AFP)
