Infinity TV service offers 45 channel lineup over ASTRA 2B satellite
Uniquely positioned to enable the rapid expansion of television broadcast services across Africa, SES WORLD SKIES, a division of SES S.A. (Paris:SESG)(LUxX:SESG), today announced Pathfinder Communications has signed a multi-transponder, multi-year deal to deliver its new Infinity TV package over the ASTRA 2B satellite to homes throughout Nigeria.
Pathfinder has secured two full Ku-band transponders to deliver its premium DTH lineup, which offers 45 channels of movies, music, sports, lifestyle, news and children’s programming. SES WORLD SKIES is also providing satellite IP backhaul across teleports in London and Lagos, Nigeria. The backhaul not only aids in the delivery of popular TV shows and content, it also supports feature-rich applications such as text messaging, telephony, broadband and shopping services.
“Our Infinity DTH service is dedicated to meeting growing consumer demand in Nigeria and the region for a great, quality television viewing experience,” said Tony Ikeokwu, Managing Director and CEO of Pathfinder Communications. “Our subscriber base is already substantial throughout Nigeria. And as we take Infinity TV into Ghana and eventually beyond the borders of West Africa, we’re confident we have the right distribution partner in SES WORLD SKIES to help make our lofty expansion plans a manageable and seamless reality.”
“Infinity TV represents the new era of quality television services emerging over the African region and SES WORLD SKIES looks forward to delivering the informative and entertaining programming lineup to viewers in homes in virtually every city and town in Nigeria,” said Nicolas Baravalle, Vice President of Africa Sales for SES WORLD SKIES. “We offer the reliability, redundancy, flexibility and video distribution expertise that Pathfinder and its Infinity TV service need to grow their DTH business with confidence.”
