The Palestinians will decide later Friday whether to attend any summit with Israel called to end the spiral of violence in the Middle East, a top aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat said, reported (AFP)
"A Palestinian response to the proposal for a summit is expected Friday evening following a series of inter-Palestinian and inter-Arab contacts," Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP.
He was responding to a report by CNN television quoting former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres as saying there was a "fair chance" of a summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Peres said US President Bill Clinton would head the summit, and include Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak along with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and King Abdullah of Jordan – (AFP)
