A Palestinian was killed during an exchange of fire with Israeli soldiers in a refugee camp north of Nablus, Palestinians security sources reported early Tuesday. Also in the West Bank, Israel occupation forces abducted 16 Palestinians throughout. In the area of Hebron, nine Hamas activists along with another Palestinian were nabbed. Six Hamas activists were abducted in the area of Bethlehem.
Bush - Olmert
Meanwhile, an American - Israeli summit took place in the White House Monday. Following the talks, the Israeli prime minister said that his stance against an international peace convention, which was raised by Arab foreign ministers the day before, was backed by the American president.
"There will be no international convention on the Palestinian issue which will replace direct negotiations," Ehud Olmert said, quoting President Bush.
"If a situation can be created in which moderate countries will encourage the Palestinians to enter negotiations with Israel, I will view it positively and will be very pleased," the Israeli leader added, according to ynetnews.
Olmert also claimed that Bush did not pressure him to moderate the Israeli military activity in the Gaza Strip.
