The Egyptian Opera House has begun getting ready for the 5th presentation of the famous Opera Aida, reported ‘Al Ahram’ daily newspaper.
The Opera, which will be performed in front of the Giza Pyramids, will open its curtains on the 12th of October for 6 days, costing the Opera House at least 10 million Egyptian pounds.
According to the chairman of the Opera House, Abdul Mine’em Kamel, who is also the director of Aida, the most spectacular element in the artistic performance this year will be an huge choir. Two Hundred and Seventy singers, consisting of both the Verona Choral Opera and the Egyptian Choral Opera, will team up for the six day run.
Leading the orchestra is the music manager of the Arena De Verona Theater in Italy, Juliano Carilala.
Carilala is one of the most famous maestro’s in the world.
Another distinguishing feature of this year’s performance, according to Kamal’s deputy at the Opera House, Hassan Kami, will be the sound and light effects and the close proximity of the audience to the singers. Kami told Al Ahram that the theater, which can take up to 5000 guests, will only be 15 meters away from the stage, making it very easy to see every detail of the preformance.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Al Ahram, Kamal added that this year’s performance includes a number of the greatest opera singers in the world, including Nicola Martinucci as Radamis, Filhlmina Fernandez, and Irene Carpunicci as Aida.
Furthermore, other greats include Antonio Silva, Alberto Maestro, Marino Daleski, Peter Daleski, Antonella Dela Putsa and Barona Balioni.
The Egyptian artists include Iman Mustafa, Jihan Fayed, Rida Al Wakil, Tamer Tawfiq and Walid Karim.
The job of lighting goes to Egyptian specialist Ala Mustafa.
