The US government intends to offer some US$900 million to help rebuild the Gaza Strip following Israel's December-January war, the New York Times reported on Tuesday. The aid will be provided through United Nations and non-governmental organizations, the Times reported, citing unnamed administration officials.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will formally declare the aid at a meeting next week of Palestinian donors in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, officials told the newspaper. Some of the US funds will go to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, officials were quoted as saying. The officials added that no aid will go to Hamas.
