Justice will only be served once former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic is extradited to The Hague to face war crimes charges, a Bosnian official said Saturday.

"The extradition of Milosevic to the Tribunal (International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia) is a test for the moderate Yugoslav authorities," said Mirza Hajric, an aide to the Muslim member of Bosnia's tripartite presidency Beriz Belkic.

"The authorities in Yugoslavia now have the opportunity to show how different they are from their predecessor headed by Milosevic," he added.

But justice would not be done unless Milosevic was extradited to The Hague to face charges of war crimes committed by his forces against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Hajric said.

He added that Milosevic should be indicted for his role in the wars in Croatia and Bosnia.

Belgrade was accused of backing Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia during the wars from 1991-95 when Milosvic was the president of Serbia.

Zeljko Samardzija, an advisor to the Serb member of the presidency Zivko Radisic, said that Milosevic's extradition was "Serbia's internal matter".

"However, there is not going to be peace in Balkans as long as war-time leaders are on the political scene," Samardzija said – SARAJEVO (AFP)
