The internationally-renowned Canadian rock band Nickelback thrilled thousands of fans at Dubai Festival City on Friday, February 5, as the group went on stage for the very first time in Dubai during DSF 2010. The exclusive one-night concert was part of the band’s ‘Dark Horse World Tour.
Nickelback band members Chad Kroeger (vocals), Mike kroeger (bass), Ryan Peake (guitar) and Daniel Adair (drums) kept the audience upbeat and excited throughout the show. Concert goers were singing and dancing especially when the band plays their famous songs such as If Today Was Your Last Day, Photograph, Rockstar, and If Everyone Cared, to name a few. Additionally, the live streaming of the concert on two huge panels, a music video presentation as the backdrop, and the incredible series of pyrotechnics paved the way for a magnificent stage production that simply wowed crowds.
According to high school friends Shawnon Ciark, Chelsea Murdock and Sanan Sarani, “We’re so excited to see Nickelback. Thanks to everyone that made this concert possible. We are huge fans of them. We loved their songs.”
Clare Thompson and Laura Shaw went to the concert despite weather warnings. “We had to see Nickelback, and it was so worth it. The show was such a great event especially for us fans. The venue was great as we got to shop and roam around the mall first before we headed here. The DSF promotions rule; there are so many great discounts,” they remarked.
Rita Bassil, a tourist from Lebanon who went to the concert with her friend Rita Mechedjian, said, “It is so nice that this concert was in time with DSF. I’m only here in Dubai for ten days and I make sure that it is DSF when I visit the city. There are so many good offers around, and this concert was a big bonus.”
Emma, Luba, Roy, Sanan, Pranav, Ankit, Caroline and Meghna were the young kids from India, Russia, Lebanon and UK who went to the Nickelback concert together. They commented, “The show was stunning. They even sang our favorite song Photograph which was great. We think that this event was cool, and DSF should bring more like this in the future.”
An even bigger group of students from the Dubai International Academy were present at the Nickelback concert. Devika, Rohan, Ananta, Anja, Phriti, Maira, Yasmine, Reem and Christelle who in spite of coming from different places in the world such as India, Canada, South Africa, Egypt, US, Sweden, Pakistan, Japan and Lebanon were all together in enjoying the concert. They agreed to tell, “This was an amazing time for us to see our favorite band. We totally enjoyed the show, and we hope that there will be more events and artists coming to Dubai. DSF events really give us fun times.”
Apparently, the Nickelback Concert is not only for the young. Adi and Gina Tofan, a couple from Romania, went to see the concert and had a wonderful experience as well. They said, “It’s great to see a huge crowd looking all so pleased and happy. This event brought people of various ages and races together, just enjoying good music and live entertainment.”
